Right in the heart of the Upper East Side is our premium barber shop, Artisan Barber. Step inside and you’ll meet some of the best barbers in NYC, skilled at beard maintenance, giving clean fades, and crisp trims.
However, if you’re not up to visiting our location due to Covid-19, our very own Charlie McCoy, founder of Artisan Barber and master barber alike, offers at home beard care tips that are quick and easy to follow.
For those having issues with their coarse beards, especially with winter around the corner, Charlie recommends the following:
Use our Artisan Barber or Orchard & Ludlow shampoo and conditioner for your beard. Make sure to focus on conditioning as doing so will soften your beard.
Charlie advises that you comb your beard after conditioning it, especially when it’s damp, to properly detangle it. He recommends combing it for 2-3 minutes for an elite end result.
To finish it off, moisturize your beard with either the Artisan Barber Beard Balm or a beard oil of your choice. Charlie explains the difference between a balm and an oil below.
“Typically a beard balm is a little heavier and it’s going to provide more conditioning to the hair,” he explains. “Whereas beard oil is going to help you with frizz but it will also absorb into your skin. After years of using it, I personally think it’s beneficial to your skin.’
This beard care routine is simple and straight to the point, made to be completed in the comfort of your home. Tips by the best barbers in New York City for New York City.
